Music Committee

The Music Committee is responsible to:

1. Schedule musicians for the Sabbath morning worship service.*
2. Develop policies and procedures for the functions of the Music Committee and for the use of music in the worship service and in the sanctuary.
3. Evaluate and recommend to the Worship Committee and to the Church Board musical programs by guest musicians for the entire Sabbath morning worship services and for musical programs outside of the worship service.

*Music for the Worship Service

1. Music used in the worship service should be for the purpose of worship of God, and not primarily to showcase the abilities of the instrument, the composer, or the performer.
2. There may be a variety of appropriate musical styles used in the worship service.
3. The music performed should be compatible with the type of worship service, e.g., traditional, contemporary, etc.
4. Whenever there are questions as to the appropriateness of any music that is being considered for use during the worship service, the final decision should be made by the Music Committee.
